Not Working Again

July 20, 2006 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

I’m off work for a week again. Only this time I’m not on vacation. I hurt my back last Monday. It was worse when I woke up on Tuesday so I called in and told them I wasn’t coming to work. I went to the doctor yesterday and he says I injured tendons where my spine connects with my pelvis. He gave me some drugs to take for it, and I’m feeling ok now, but he says I shouldn’t work until the 24th. It’s still hurting, but not as bad as before, and I feel like I could be working, but I’m not going to risk it if the doctor says to stay home. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to be receiving compensation. I filled out a form for WorkSafe B.C., aka Workers Compensation, so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. I’ve never had to deal with something like this before so I have no idea how the whole compensation side of things works. Wal-Mart still owes me vacation pay though, so I should be ok with missing so many shifts.

So since I have some more time off work, I’m going to do some work on my websites. Canada4Life.Ca needs some updating, and I want to get the photo album up and running on this site. Only problem is the pain killers I’m on make me really sleepy. We’ll see what happens. :-)

T-Shirts

Hey all.

I don’t have much to post. Nothing really exciting going on lately. I’m back to work now. I had a week off from the 24th to the 30th of June and then I had the 1st and 2nd off for my weekend. I drove out to Calgary, like I mentioned in my last post, spent a few days there, and then drove back on the 29th. It was nice to get out of town for a few days. I think I’m starting to get used to driving around Calgary without getting lost. I used to live in Surrey, but I was so young then that I didn’t really have to get around the big city by myself. Each time I’ve been to Calgary it’s been easier to get around te city without missing my exit and ending up going in circles trying to get to where I want to be.

It was great to have Canada Day off work, but because I had the 1st and 2nd off I ended up working nine days in a row. I guess it was worth it. Canada Day was pretty great. The fireworks were kind of a disappointment, but that’s to be expected in this city I guess.

I have a new Canada4Life T-Shirt. Roger, Sara and I made some shirts on the 30th and we all wore them downtown for Canada Day. We had a lot of people checking them out, and probably got a lot of hits on the website because of them. A big thanks to Roger and Sara for that. And I’m not sure if Sara reads this blog, but if you do let me know if I owe you for the shirt. I was serious when I asked you that.

Here’s a picture if you’re interested.

I haven’t set up an order form on Canada4Life.Ca yet, but if anyone’s interested in buying one go to my “contact me” page and let me know.

Going to Calgary

Hey all. I’m just posting quickly before I leave town. I have a week vacation from work. I’m headed out to Calgary. Then driving back to K-Town for Canada Day. Should be great to get out of town for a few days.

“Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas
I need to get myself away from this place
I said yep what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change”

Bad drivers

May 27, 2006 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

What the hell is wrong with drivers in this city? I was just driving up Highway 97 (four lanes in my direction, 3 through lanes and one left turn lane) waiting to turn left on to Banks Road. I’m turning left, so obviously I’m in the left turn lane. The advanced left turn light flashes and cars in my lane start moving forward. Just as I’m in the middle of the intersection, making my turn, some asshole beside me decides he’s going to make a left turn from the through lane. Mind you, he still has a red light. So I have this big fucking truck inching towards me and I honk my horn. Dumbass apparently doesn’t notice and keeps driving towards me. Then I slam on the breaks and hold the horn until the stupid fuck takes notice that there’s a car he’s about to hit. And what does he do? He gives me a dirty look for honking at him and then cuts in front of me. I could have killed someone at that moment! Where do these idiots get their drivers licenses from? And how the hell did he not see my car? It’s bright fucking yellow!!!

I hate Kelowna drivers.

Blogging from Calgary

April 13, 2006 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

Hey all. I’ve decided to get back to blogging again. I haven’t posted anything since January! 8-O I’m posting this from Calgary. I got three days off work because of the Good Friday stat holiday, so I decided to get out of Kelowna and go visit Roger and Sara in Calgary. I drove out Wednesday and I have to be back for work on Friday night. So far it’s been a great long weekend. While Roger and Sara were in classes yesterday I drove across town and visited my brother who I hadn’t seen or talked to for over a year. I’m probably going to be meeting up with him again tomorrow so I can meet my nephew. It was fun trying to get to his place yesterday. I love big cities, but it’s a real pain in the ass when you’re trying to drive somewhere and you don’t know where you’re going. Actually, I knew where I was going and had planned which roads I was taking before I left, but I kept missing the exits I was supposed to take and then I had to double back. It was much better today when I went to the mall. I managed to get there and back without getting lost, or missing my turn.

I went to the mall to buy a car charger for my cell phone. The battery died this morning. First I went to the Telus store, and they wanted $49. So I went to Wal-Mart and got one for twenty-something. You have to love Wal-Mart eh? “We sell for less. Everyday.” ;-)

Anyway, I’m just sitting here at Roger and Sara’s place playing on the computer because they’re both at work. Hopefully we’ll get out and do something fun tonight.

So I guess I didn’t really have much to blog about, but I was bored, and trying to think of what to do. So there you go. :-)

I’ll post more when I get back to Kelowna.

eBay update

January 13, 2006 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

In case anyone’s interested the auction for my phone is almost finished. As I type this there are 13 hours and 15 minutes left. There have been 4 bids and the current high bid is $116.24 CDN. Pretty good for a phone that I got for nothing. :-D So if anyone needs a phone get over there and bid.

Running man with blow up doll

January 13, 2006 · Filed Under Personal · 1 Comment

I woke up very early this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. I had to go to the bank some time today so I decided since I was up, 4:30AM was as good a time as any. So I was walking down Baron Road and had just passed the “Source Adult” store when I heard a car pulling up behind me. I looked back and saw that it was a cop car. So I thought “Ok, I’m walking down the street at four in the morning. He probably thinks I look suspicious.” The cop rolled down his passenger side window and asked me where I was coming from. I was thinking “It’s not really any of your fucking business” ;-) but I told him Rutland. Then he points with his thumb towards where I had just come from and asked if I saw a guy running in that direction “from that store” carrying a blow up doll. Trying hard not to laugh, I told him no and he told me to let him know if I see anyone. I assured him that I would do that, and continued walking. What the hell is wrong with people in this city?

Cell phone on eBay

January 8, 2006 · Filed Under Personal, Politics · Comment

I put my Motorola v220, the one I’ve mentioned in previous posts, on eBay yesterday. So far there are no bids, but there are 3 people watching my auction. So if you want a cell phone, or you know someone who does, then go take a look. Just go to the main eBay page and enter this auction number into the search box: 5851477790.

In other news, Suzanne broke up with me. We’ve been arguing a lot lately, but the last time I talked to her things seemed okay. We were supposed to get together and do something on Saturday, but she sent me a text message on Friday night telling me she didn’t want to continue our relationship. I tried calling her, but she wouldn’t answer the phone. What kind of person breaks up with a fucking text message? Oh well. Maybe it just hasn’t hit me yet, or maybe it just wasn’t meant to be because I’m not really too concerned about it at this point. :-?

What’s with the conservatives? Does Steven Harper actually think he’s going to win votes by vowing to repeal cuts to income taxes? There’s all this talk about Harper having a hidden agenda. Forget about the hidden agenda, look at the agenda that he’s not hiding!

And in case you didn’t notice the top right of this page, I’ve already decided who I’m voting for. Kevin Hagglund NDP.

Happy New Year

January 1, 2006 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

Wow, it’s been a long time since I posted anything eh? I’ve had lots of things I’ve wanted to blog about, but I’m a constant procrastinator so they never got posted. I’m beginning to wonder if my life is interesting enough to warrant a blog. Sure I’ve had lots of interesting things happen to me since the last time I posted, but only a few of them are things I’m willing to post on the internet for all the world to see. I can’t make any promises, but I’m going to try to post more. I think I’ll probably start posting more about current events and stuff like that so at least that way I’ll never run out of things to talk about.

So what prompted me to post today? Well it’s new year’s day, and last year I set two resolutions, get a new job, and post more in my blog. Well I only achieved one of those. I don’t plan on making any resolutions this year.

Speaking of my job, it’s going pretty good. I got a raise last month. I was hoping for more than an extra 30 cents/hour, but I guess a little raise is better than no raise at all.

Finally got my phone

November 3, 2005 · Filed Under Personal · 2 Comments

Well, my issue with the Source by Circuit City has finally been resolved. Actually, it was resolved last Tuesday shortly after my last post on the subject. I finally got a hold of their district manager who told me he had no idea what was going on and never received my emails. He got in touch with the store and called me back to tell me that somehow my phone was lost either by the stooges at the Orchard Park store, or by their repair depot, or by Motorola. Either way, I was given a new phone to replace the one that they lost. All I can say is it’s about fucking time!
