Another Style
After my last post I got an idea for another style. I call this one Canada4Life. 
I’ve added it to the menu, so check it out. There are more to come soon. Now that I have this set up it doesn’t take long to make a style.
Well, I’m off to bed. I have two job interviews tomorrow, and I could use some sleep.

Style changer
If you look in the right column of this page you’ll see something new. I added a select box so you can change the style of the page. So far I only have two styles, blue and white, but I’ll probably add more eventually. I actually think I like the white style more.
I also made some changes so that all the pages of the site (about me, contact me, links, etc.) have the left menu with links to all the blog entries. I changed some file names too so if you get any error messages that’s probably why. You can let me know about any errors by using the contact me page or by adding a comment in the blog.

Valid RSS
I found out that the RSS feed I made wasn’t outputting valid code so I fixed it. I think it’s still going to work the same way. It still works fine for me in Firefox’s bookmarks, but if anyone has any problems let me know.
I think my job search is going pretty good. I had an interview at Subway the other day, and I was supposed to hear back either way sometime today, but never heard anything. I guess I didn’t get the job. Anyways, I got two callbacks yesterday to set up interviews. I did one interview today, and I think it went really well. Sounds like a great place to work too. It’s at Conroy Exteriors. The position I applied for is wearhouse shipper/receiver. If they hire me I’ll be doing sheet metal work and driving their trucks to deliver stuff to their job sites, among other things. Like I said, I think the interview went really well, hopefully I get hired. I have another interview on Tuesday at The Brick. I’d be working for their rent-to-own division delivering and setting up furniture I believe. I’ll keep you all posted on how the interviews go.

Who are you people?
I was just looking at the stats for this website and they show that I’ve had 587 unique visitors so far this month. So who are you people? I only know, for sure, of two people who visit this site regularly besides me. Don’t be shy people. I coded a nice little commenting system just for you. So if you have anything to say about my posts in this blog feel free to post it. Or you could at least post a comment for this one entry and tell me who you are, and how you found this site.
I found a few other interesting things while looking at my stats:
People from 34 different countries have visited (Ok, I find this hard to believe, but that’s what the stats show.)
The number one browser used by my visitors is Firefox at 75.4%
Top search terms that found this page are “motorolav220 ringtones” and “Radio Shack Sucks”.

A couple changes
I made a couple little changes to my blog. I shortened the list of recent entries on the right side of the page so it only shows the first fifteen characters of the entry title. I have some pretty long titles that were distorting the page.
I also wrote a page for me to post from. Before I was just using phpMyAdmin. Now I have just a simple form to fill in to post a message.

RSS Syndicated
I just finished adding RSS syndication to my blog. It was pretty easy considering I had never done anything like that before. I actually only found out about RSS a little while ago when I started using Firefox. I was curious what the little orange icon was in the bottom right of my browser and when I clicked it I was able to add a live bookmark. I think it’s a great idea, so I’ve added that functionality here. I have a link to the RSS feed page in the buttons section on this page.

Don’t Panic
Don’t panic if some things seem broken on this site in the next few days, or even weeks. I’ve started replacing the blogging software I’ve been using with my own blog script. If something isn’t working properly I’m probably working on it, but if it goes unfixed for a long time please do tell me about it. As I type this the commenting system on the blog isn’t functioning yet so click the contact me link at the top of the page if you have any comments.

Almost done
I’m almost done writing the new script for my blog. Right now the new script and the current one look almost identical, but my new one is running on code I wrote myself so it will be a lot easier for me to understand and customise it. The new code should be up within a couple weeks.
I worked late night on Friday so my sleeping pattern is all messed up again. It wasn’t easy getting up for work on Saturday, but once I was up and moving around I was wide awake. It’s almost 4:30am right now and I’m not tired at all.
I’m planning on going to the bank to get a new debit card this weekend. I broke mine scraping ice off my windshield. Those cards don’t seem to last very long with me. I also need to get a haircut and maybe buy some new clothes for job searching. And if I can find time I want to take my computer in and get the CDROM fixed. It’s covered under extended warrenty so I figured I’ll take it in and get it replaced while it’s still free. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, but it doesn’t open, and doesn’t show up as an available disk drive in Windows Explorer. It’s been broken for months now, and I’ve just been using my DVD drive for everything. I’m thinking now that that’s why NHL 2005 kept crashing on me.
So, lots to do this weekend. I guess I should try to sleep.
On second thought, maybe I’ll play a few rounds of Swat. That always seems to make me tired.

Bandwidth troubles
You might have noticed some error messages lately saying the site had gone over its monthy bandwith allotment. I have an account with 25GB of bandwith which I’ve split up between this site and Canda4Life.Ca. I have them set up as seperate accounts so as one account goes over it’s limit I just increase the limit and decrease it on the other account. Right now this site is at 97% used and Canda4Life.Ca is at 94%. It looks like both sites will end up going down for the rest of the month. I can buy more bandwidth, and probably will, but this is the first month with both sites running so I’m waiting to see how it goes. If I go over the limit again next month I’ll pay for more bandwith. I have my hosting set up as a reseller account so I can create an unlimited number of accounts. If anyone is looking for some cheap web hosting send me an email and I’ll see what I can work out. If I set up accounts for people I’ll buy more space and bandwidth per month so thare will be no chance of it going down. I’m already planning on putting up a third website soon. I’m not saying what it’s about yet.
Ok. Time for bed.

Writing my own blog script
I mentioned before that I wanted to write my own blog script. I started writing one last night. I’m using Movable type right now, and it’s really great, but it has a lot of things I don’t need/want and I can’t really customize it as much as I want to. Mostly because it’s written in Perl, and I don’t know anything about that. My own script is going to look almost the same as this does now, but I’m working on some slight changes. It could take a while to get this finished. The code I’ve written so far doesn’t do much, and it’s barely functioning.
