More green spam
Well apparently the Green Party of Canada can’t take a hint. I just received another email from them. This one was an apology for problems they had with their monthly newsletters. They’re apparently doing their best to make sure the newsletter is delivered properly next month…
Anyway, I sent an email off to the guy who runs their email and informed him that if I get anything else from them I’ll be complaining to their ISP.
Green Party Spam
The Green Party of Canada is really starting to piss me off. Before the last federal election I signed a petition that supported Elizabeth May’s request to attend the leader’s debate. I didn’t sign because I support the party, but because I thought a national party with candidates running in every single riding in the country should be represented. I’m not a member of the Green Party. Nor do I support them. So it came as a surprise to me when they sent me an email last month asking for a donation. At the end of their email they included an address I could supposedly write to and request that my email address be removed from their mailing lists. I did just that, and even explained to them that agreeing with them on one issue doesn’t necessarily mean I support the party. So all was well, and I didn’t receive any more emails from them. Until today.
This morning I had an email in my inbox from the Green Party promoting something they’re calling “the Sunflower Club”. It’s some program where members of the party get points for referring friends to become members of the party. It tells me if my friends or whoever sign up and give my email address as their referrer I’ll get points and if I get enough points I can get rewards. Like a copy of The Inconvenient Truth or a pin saying I’m a member of the Sunflower Club. One little problem there people! I’m not a member, and I certainly wouldn’t be recommending others join a party that I want nothing to do with myself.
Anyway, I scrolled to the end of the email and lo and behold there’s a link I can click to remove myself from their mailing list. Great, I thought. I clicked the link, and after wading through all the other nonsense on the page about updating my membership or donating, I managed to remove myself from their list. Or so I thought until I checked my email again a few hours later, and I have three more of the exact same email!
So, again I click the unsubscribe link only to be given a message that the mailing list doesn’t exist. I did manage to find an email address for the guy who’s supposed to be administering this mailing list. I guess if I get any more Green Party spam I’ll send him an email. If that gets me nowhere I guess I’ll just add them to my spam filter.
Oh, and subscribe his email address to the other national parties’ email newsletters.
