Almost done
I’m almost done writing the new script for my blog. Right now the new script and the current one look almost identical, but my new one is running on code I wrote myself so it will be a lot easier for me to understand and customise it. The new code should be up within a couple weeks.
I worked late night on Friday so my sleeping pattern is all messed up again. It wasn’t easy getting up for work on Saturday, but once I was up and moving around I was wide awake. It’s almost 4:30am right now and I’m not tired at all.
I’m planning on going to the bank to get a new debit card this weekend. I broke mine scraping ice off my windshield. Those cards don’t seem to last very long with me.
I also need to get a haircut and maybe buy some new clothes for job searching. And if I can find time I want to take my computer in and get the CDROM fixed. It’s covered under extended warrenty so I figured I’ll take it in and get it replaced while it’s still free. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, but it doesn’t open, and doesn’t show up as an available disk drive in Windows Explorer. It’s been broken for months now, and I’ve just been using my DVD drive for everything. I’m thinking now that that’s why NHL 2005 kept crashing on me.
So, lots to do this weekend. I guess I should try to sleep.
On second thought, maybe I’ll play a few rounds of Swat. That always seems to make me tired.
Paid to drink Pepsi!!
In my last post I mentioned that I was going to get a Pepsi. Well, apparently the machine infront of Wal-Mart is messed up. A can costs 55 cents. I put in three quarters and got $1.20 back as change.
In other news… I’ve changed my New Year’s resolution slightly. It’s now “get a new job, any new job, anything but Burger King before the end of February, or quit and go on welfare”. That place is driving me crazy.
I think I’m going to go play some Swat before I go to bed.
Early morning posting
It’s just after 4am, and I’m wide awake. I ended up falling asleep while watching TV at Cherie’s house last night so I’m not tired now. Cherie and I spent almost the whole day together. We went to Big White and went tubing. It was lots of fun, and not nearly as cold as I thought it would be. It’s been kinda cold here lately. I was reading Roger’s blog and he said something about not understanding people in Kelowna whining about cold weather. I agree that we have it easy compared to Calgary, but -30 is still fucking cold.
I think I’m going to get new tires on my car today. When I took my car in for its checkup they told me I needed two new tires, but I haven’t got them yet. I got stuck in Cherie’s cul-de-sac again yesterday, and that got me thinking about my tires. We got another big dump of snow and the roads hadn’t been cleared yet.
I’m craving a Pepsi. Got to run to the store. I’ll post more later.
An update
I just thought I’d post an update on the status of the blog script I’m working on. It’s coming along nicely, but there have been a few delays, mainly because I’ve changed my mind on how I want to do one thing or another. Hopefully I’ll have something that actually functions properly soon so I can switch over to that, and then add on more features as I finish building them.
Money in the mail
I got my GST rebate cheque in the mail today. That’s $85.50 that I wasn’t counting on having so I was pretty excited about that. I never really keep track of when these cheques come out. I mean I know it’s every 3 months, but I don’t keep track of which months and anticipate its arrival. It’s always nice to get unexpected money, especially when you’re as broke as I am right now. Technically I’m not really broke. I have quite a bit of money in the bank, but it’s already spoken for. My car, and car insurance payments will take most of that, and I still have a couple more bills to pay. Here’s a picture I found on the internet today that made me think about the reason for my shortage of cash. spent more money on Christmas this year than I’ve ever spent before. I don’t know what happened. I guess I just felt rich when I was shopping. Oh well, at least I didn’t use my credit card to pay for everything like the couple in the picture.

I took my car in for its regular checkup a few days ago and they told me I need new tires. The front tires on my car were worn down so much that they said the don’t recommend driving on them. The problem is they only had one tire that was the right size and type for my car. They were supposed to get a shipment in the next day. So I still have to make an appointment to get new tires put on my car. And I have to do it soon before I end up blowing a tire I guess.
It’s been snowing a lot here lately. I don’t know the exact numbers, but it’s really deep. The roads are pretty covered too. The two main highways in town are pretty clear, but the city, or whoever they’ve contracted the job out to, has done a really shitty job of clearing a lot of the other roads. I know they do main roads first and then work toward the smaller side streets according to priority, but the state of some roads is ridiculous. My car got stuck in the cul-de-sac that Cherie lives in a couple nights ago. There’s a bit of a hill between her house and the main road, and my car wouldn’t make it. The tires just kept spinning in all the snow. It was so deep that my car was almost bottoming out in it. Apparently there was three days of snow on the road and the plow kept driving by the court without clearing it out. A few people on the street had already called the city to complain after they got stuck too, but that didn’t do any good. After Cherie, a couple of her neighbours, and I pushed my car out we saw a plow coming up the main road. Cherie stopped the driver and asked if he was going to clear out the cul-de-sac. He said he was planning on doing it on the way back, but he would do it then since she asked about it. I have a feeling it still wouldn’t be done now if she hadn’t stopped the guy.
There are a couple good things about all the snow though. It is fun driving in it when you don’t get stuck. On my way home tonight I did some doughnuts in the mall parking lot. That’s always the best part of winter driving. Cherie and I have plans to go to Big White on Sunday for some tubing. That should be lots of fun too.
Hello 2005
Well it’s 2005, and this is my first post of the year. Hopefully this year will be better than the last. My only new year’s resolution is to get a new job. Oh, and maybe to post in my blog more often. I haven’t really been on the computer, or at home, much lately.
I spent new year’s eve with Cherie. We were invited by someone at work to his house where they were planning a party. It wasn’t much of a party, and it came crashing to a halt shortly before midnight when the paramedics arrived and took one guy away in an ambulance. But that’s a long story that I will not get into, except to say: know your limit and stop drinking once you’ve reached that limit.
Other than that I haven’t really been doing much lately. Just working, sleeping, and hanging out with the girlfriend. I have an appointment at the Mazda dealership tomorrow to get a regular checkup on the car. So those are my big plans for my two days off. Pretty boring eh?
