Attention software writers…
Attention software writers: Stop with the fucking shortcuts already!!!
Seriously, if I wanted a shortcut to your program on my desktop, and another one in my quick launch bar, and another one at the top of my start menu, plus one in the programs group, I would bloody well put it there myself. I understand that you’re trying to make access to your software as easy as possible, but at least give me a choice during the installation process. I know there are a few programs that let you check or un-check a box to say if you want a shortcut or not, and I love it when they do that. I think Winamp is one of the programs that does that, but I’m not sure.
If you’re curious what prompted this post, I just installed Quicktime on my computer. It’s bad enough that I have to use their software, I don’t want to waste my time deleting shortcuts I’ll never use. I only installed Quicktime player so I could watch some off the videos I have on Canada4Life.Ca.
Sleepless
Well, I couldn’t sleep so I decided to post in my blog. I haven’t really been up to much lately. Mostly working and sleeping. I traded shifts with Cherie the other day so I ended up working ’til 4am. My sleep pattern is pretty messed up now. At least I didn’t have to walk home. James was working and gave me a ride, which saved me having to walk in the cold.
It’s been getting pretty cold the last couple of days. Been snowing a bit too, but not enough.
I love the snow. Hopefully we’ll have lots as it gets closer to Christmas. Driving in the snow is fun, and I think Roger and I might be heading up to Big White to do some tubing. God knows there’s not much else to do in this city.
I’m anxously awaiting the day I get my drivers license back. It was suspended for two months because I was speeding. I got two tickets with 3 points each. I had my novice licence, so I was only allowed 4 points against my license. I’m not positive, but I think I can get my license back on the 15th or 16th. I’ll have to find out for sure. The shitty part is ICBC changed the licensing rules so when I get my license back I’ll go under their new rules. Basically the only difference between those rules and the ones I was under before is I now will have a limit of one non-family related passenger. I’m still scratching my head and trying to figure out just what the hell this rule is supposed to accomplish. I can legally carry 4 family members in my car, but only one non-family member. Do they actually consider family members to be less of a distraction? Also I’ll be stuck with this license for 2 years. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to stop speeding.
For anyone interested, I drive a yellow 2002 Mazda Protegè5. I got it in March this year, and I’ve been making monthly payments since then. I should have more pictures in my photo album when I get it set up. Before this car I drove a 1987 Mercury Tracer. Quite the upgrade.

I’m feeling a little more tired now. Maybe I’ll see if I can get some sleep.
Wow!
Holy shit it’s December already! What happened to 2004?
Lack of posting
Well, so far I haven’t been posting much in my blog. Maybe my life isn’t interesting enough for a blog.
Seriously though, I’ve been meaning to post, but I always think about it when I’m away from the computer or when I’m doing something else.
I haven’t really been doing anything too interesting the last couple days. I got my boss pissed off at me. I asked him about the money they shorted me on my last check and then got into a little argument with him about whether or not they really owe me. For the record, they’re still refusing to pay me. Then the day after that argument I showed up for work late. I thought I was scheduleds for noon, but I was supposed to be there at nine. Boy was the boss pissed.
I’ve been working on my resume a little bit at a time. I really have to get motivated on that. Hopefully this weekend I’ll get going on that.
I’ve been playing a lot of Swat3 lately. Roger and I have been playing online almost every night. I found a mission I started building months ago and I’ve been working on it a bit. Hopefully I get that done soon. It should be fun to play a mission that I created myself.
