Online cigarettes

December 31, 2004 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Do people actually buy cigarettes online? For a while now my guestbook on Canada4Life.Ca has been getting spammed by people posting links to their sites. I just delete the entries. Tonight I had eight entries all linking to some sites selling cigarettes. I didn’t actually visit the sites, but from their names I figured they sell cigarettes. I wouldn’t think there’d be too much of a market for online cigarettes.

I think I have the spammer blocked from all pages on Canada4Life.Ca now. I’ll just have to wait and see. Spam is evil.

Checking in

December 31, 2004 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

Hey there. I’m just checking in to let everone know I’m still doing the blogging thing. It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been busy with different things. I’ve been trying to get NHL 2005 to work on my computer. There’s a problem where it crashes once I start playing a game. I don’t think it likes my video card. Roger’s in town right now too, so we’ve been hanging out a little. We went up to Big White for some tubing a couple nights ago, and the night before that we were at another friend’s house exchanging christmas gifts. The rest of my time I’m spent working, sleeping, and hanging out with Cherie.

Boxing day

Well, my day started off kinda shitty. I woke up to my brother and his girlfriend argueing. Then when I was getting dressed I reached my hand into my shirt sleave and hit the light fixture on my ceiling. I cut my finger a little, but nothing serious. Then when I went to the washroom to cleanup the blood I walked in on my brother and his girlfriend … um… doing stuff in the living room. Fortunately they were both fully clothed. Thank god my brother is moving out at the end of the month, and I’ll have the whole place to myself. Right now my brother and I are renting the basement suite in our parents’ house. The rent is cheap, and it’s great except for having to put up with my brother’s mess and having my money and other stuff go missing every once in a while.

I went to do a little boxing day shopping with Roger and his girlfriend. The mall was pretty crazy, and future shop wasn’t much better. I bought a 2005 calendar and a copy of NHL 2005. I paid twenty bucks for the game and got a $30+ controller for free. It was a pretty good deal. Roger picked up the same thing so we’ll probably be playing that tonight. Right now I’m going to work on the blog script I’m writing.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I had a great one, but all that turkey made me kinda sleepy. I’m going to relax. I’ll post again later.

I’m done.

Well, I’m finally done my christmas shopping. The mall wasn’t as crazy as I expected it to be, but I was sure glad to get out of there. Hopefully everyone likes their gifts, because I didn’t know what to get for anyone. Now to wrap everything…

Bandwidth troubles

December 24, 2004 · Filed Under Of Mice and Cats · Comment

You might have noticed some error messages lately saying the site had gone over its monthy bandwith allotment. I have an account with 25GB of bandwith which I’ve split up between this site and Canda4Life.Ca. I have them set up as seperate accounts so as one account goes over it’s limit I just increase the limit and decrease it on the other account. Right now this site is at 97% used and Canda4Life.Ca is at 94%. It looks like both sites will end up going down for the rest of the month. I can buy more bandwidth, and probably will, but this is the first month with both sites running so I’m waiting to see how it goes. If I go over the limit again next month I’ll pay for more bandwith. I have my hosting set up as a reseller account so I can create an unlimited number of accounts. If anyone is looking for some cheap web hosting send me an email and I’ll see what I can work out. If I set up accounts for people I’ll buy more space and bandwidth per month so thare will be no chance of it going down. I’m already planning on putting up a third website soon. I’m not saying what it’s about yet.

Ok. Time for bed.

I can drive!

December 24, 2004 · Filed Under Personal · Comment

It’s been a while since I posted. On Monday I went down and got my drivers license back. Thanks again Roger for driving me down. i had to pay $31 for the licensing fee, and $100 for a reinstatement fee, whatever that is. Plus I already paid the ticket, so that brings the total to $269. I think I’m going to be more careful about my speed from now on. So after I got my license Roger and I went to the mall, and I was reminded that people in this city don’t know how to drive. We took seperate cars down and both got stuck in traffic. There was a back log of traffic trying to get into the mall parking lot stretching down the road. Roger was able to get into the parking lot, but couldn’t go anywhere once he got there. Meanwhile, I was stuck out in traffic waiting to get into the parking lot. We eventually gave up and decided over cell phone that we’d meet at another parking lot and walk to the mall. That worked much better.

The malls were crazy. I hate chrismas shopping. I never know what to buy anyone, but I’ve been told I’m good at picking good gifts. Whatever, I still hate it. I didn’t get much shopping done while Roger and I were there, but I went back later that night and bought a few things. Then Cherie and I went shopping on Tuesday, and she helped me pick out my mom’s gift. The bad news is I still have shopping to do. I’m typing this at 3:30am Chrismas eve day, and I’m still not done buying gifts. That’s kinda a scary thought. So I have big plans for tomorrow. I’m planning on getting up early and rushing down to the mall. I only have Cherie left to shop for, and I basically know what I’m going to get her so it shouldn’t be that bad. I’m just hoping I’m not there for hours waiting in lines. If I don’t post here tomorrow it means I didn’t make it out alive.

Writing my own blog script

December 18, 2004 · Filed Under Of Mice and Cats · Comment

I mentioned before that I wanted to write my own blog script. I started writing one last night. I’m using Movable type right now, and it’s really great, but it has a lot of things I don’t need/want and I can’t really customize it as much as I want to. Mostly because it’s written in Perl, and I don’t know anything about that. My own script is going to look almost the same as this does now, but I’m working on some slight changes. It could take a while to get this finished. The code I’ve written so far doesn’t do much, and it’s barely functioning.

I was talking to my friend Roger on MSN messenger and he has a blog now too. If you’re interested go check it out at http://spaces.msn.com/members/patriot10/.

I have to get up in less than five hours. I guess I should get to bed.

NHL

December 15, 2004 · Filed Under Sports · Comment

By the way, I’m predicting that we have seen the last of the NHL. The way things are going right now it looks like the league is dead, and there’s little chance of reviving it.

Been busy

December 15, 2004 · Filed Under Personal · 2 Comments

It’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been kinda busy. I finished up my resume, and I’ll be starting to hand some out soon. I went to a Christmas party for work last night. I was kinda surprised becuase I actually had fun. I didn’t think a work Christmas party could be fun.

I’ve been cleaning up my computer a bit the last couple of days. Organising files, and deleting stuff I don’t want anymore. I did a little work on Canada4Life.Ca too.

I’ve officially changed my default web browser to Firefox. I’ve been using it on and off for quite a while now, but a couple days ago I made it my default browser. So far it’s been great.

I went to ICBC today and paid my speeding ticket. I got a notice in the mail saying that my payment was past due. There’s no due date on the ticket so I’m a little puzzled how it can be past due, but anyways it’s payed now. I also found out that the earliest I can get my license back is the 20th. The lady at ICBC told me the 19th, but that’s a Sunday. I don’t work next Monday, so I should be driving. :-)

I spent most of tonight working on my Swat3 mission. It’s starting to look really good. I can’t wait to get it finished.
